Mariyam Ashfa Hamdi has a Bachelor’s Degree from the Australian Catholic University in Inclusive Education and Disability Studies, which she completed from 2014-2016. Currently she works as a Special Education Needs Teacher in Muhyiddin School, a mainstream government school in Maldives.

She also holds the post of General Member in the Maldivian Red Crescent (MRC) Villimale’ Unit Board. She volunteers in Villijoali; a program run by MRC Villimale’ unit, whose aim is to create a caring, inclusive and resilient community. She is the lead volunteer of #Haalukihineiy – the main component of Villijoali, which focuses on inclusivity and empowering the marginalised groups within the community.

Disability rights advocacy, inclusive education and social work are her prime areas of interest.
